Taking the stress out of relocating

* Take a 20ft or 40ft storage container at our Frome & Salisbury storage sites for three months or more, and we will move your belongings in free of charge.

That’s a full removal crew and as many journeys as the job takes, not a van and a driver. A move like this normally costs £500 for a 20ft container and £800 for a 40ft. You pay nothing. We can do this because we own both the removals business and the storage site.

Subject to terms here.

  • What you actually get

    • A full removal crew. Trained movers who work together every day, not a man with a van. They arrive with blankets, straps and trolleys and they know how to get a wardrobe down a staircase without taking the paint with it.
    • As many journeys as the job needs. We do not cap it. If your belongings fit in the container you have booked, we will keep going until they are all in there, however many trips that takes.
    • Collection from your address. Anywhere within 15 miles of our Frome or Salisbury site.
    • Loading, transport and unloading. We load at your property, drive to the site, and stack everything into your container.
    • A written quote before we start. So you can see exactly what the move would have cost, and exactly what you are saving.

  • How it works

    1. Tell us what you are moving. Call or fill in the form. We will ask about your property, roughly how much you have, and where it is going.
    2. We confirm your container and your date. You choose a 20ft or 40ft container and we book the crew. We need five working days’ notice, and moves run on weekdays.
    3. Set up your direct debit. Three months minimum on the storage. Nothing to pay towards the move.
    4. We move you in. Our crew arrives, loads up and delivers everything into your container. You get the keys and 24 hour access from that day.

  • Do you qualify?

    • You are a new domestic storage customer with us
    • You are taking a 20ft or 40ft container, not an 8ft
    • You are committing to a minimum of three months
    • Your collection address is within 15 miles (as the crow flies) of either our Salisbury or Frome sites
    • You are paying by direct debit
    • You can move on a weekday with at least five working days’ notice

    Just outside the fifteen miles, or not sure whether your dates work? Ring us. We would rather find a way than lose your business over a mile or two.

  • What is not included

    The free move covers getting your belongings from your address into your container. It does not include:

    • Packing and packing materials. We can quote for this separately, or you can buy boxes and tape from us and do it yourself.
    • Dismantling or reassembling furniture. Beds and flat-pack wardrobes need to be taken apart before we arrive.
    • Disconnecting appliances. Washing machines and fridges should be disconnected, drained and defrosted.
    • Pianos, safes and garden machinery. These need specialist handling and we will quote separately.
    • Parking permits or suspensions. If your street needs one, you will need to arrange it with the council.
    • Moving out of storage later. The free move is the way in. We will happily quote for the move out, and you get our loyal customer rate.

Questions about the offer

  • It is genuinely free, and the storage price is the same as it would be without the offer. You can check our published rates.

  • Most storage companies buy their removals in from a third party, so giving one away costs them full retail. We own the vans, we employ the crews and we own our sites, which means a move costs us a fraction of what it would cost you to book independently.

    We would rather absorb that than watch somebody choose a competitor because they could not work out how to get a house full of furniture across town.

  • The remaining months of the three month term become payable. So if you left after one month, you would pay for months two and three. After that, seven days’ notice is all we ask and you can go whenever you like.

  • Not for the free move, since that needs the three month commitment. You are still very welcome as a storage customer, and we can quote for the move separately.

  • We will tell you before the day if we think that is likely. If it happens on the day, you can upgrade to a larger container at the standard rate, or we will leave the surplus with you.

  • No, this offer replaces any other promotion rather than stacking with it.

  • During the move, we do. Our goods in transit cover applies to every job, up to £25,000. Tell us in writing before the move about any single item worth more than £1,000 so it is properly covered.

    Once your belongings are in the container, cover switches to your Giant Storage agreement. You will need contents insurance for the storage period, and we can arrange that for you when you book. Just ask.

  • Let us know at least 10 working days before and there is nothing to pay. Inside that window we have already committed a crew and vehicles, so a cancellation charge applies: 30% of the standard move value between 5 and 10 working days, 60% under 5 working days. Standard move values are £500 for a 20ft and £800 for a 40ft.

    That’s for cancelling the move itself. Leaving storage early is different, and covered above.
